WHAT IS TUSITA
TUSITA is a heaven, home to the contented gods. 1 day in this world is said to be equal to 400 years of human life. It is the heaven in which the Bodhisattvas are reborn before they attain enlightenment (bodhi) in their next life as a human being. Graced by the presence of the Bodhisattvas, the Tusita heaven is the most beautiful of all celestial worlds. It is believed to be the present residence of Champa Gonpo or Maitreya Buddha, the Buddha of the Future.

WHAT IS TUSITA DIVINE ART Private Limited
TUSITA DIVINE ART PRIVATE LIMITED is a limited company registered in India under the Companies Registration Act 1956. The company is building a niche brand that brings to the market products and reproductions of products traditionally produced/crafted by indigenous communities, and sharing its profits with the producers/custodians of these products.

As its first line of products, the company is producing reproductions of thangkas. Thangkas are traditional Tibetan scroll paintings that generally use gouache on a cotton canvas and depict various religious topics and themes.

Our reproductions are photographic images of such thangkas, expertly reproduced on fabric, in order to give the original, authentic feel. While developing our products, special care has been taken to reproduce the ancient, archival look. Exquisitely painted, the original thangkas contain various religious figures and topics such as the Buddha, episodes from his lives, tantric deities and demons, mandalas, Buddhist scholars and saints, and vary in age from the very old (700-800 years) to the not-so-old (50-100 years). Each reproductions is accompanied by a description / interpretation of the iconography represented in it, done in close consultation with senior monks and with reference to authoritative works by scholars specializing in Tibetan Buddhist art.

The original thangkas belong to places of worship and families in the Himalayan/trans-Himalayan regions of India, especially in the remote valley of Spiti, bordering Tibet. These regions have, at different times in history, been a part of the Tibetan realm.

The company is in possession of photographs of numerous such prized thangkas, in varying conditions, and is contracted to share the profits accruing from the sale of reproductions with the temples/custodians that own the originals so as to help them maintain and restore them, if required.
